I thought the film was really good. I can see why it is a classic. The ending really shocked me. I did not see it coming at all. I did not think it would end like that. The movie succeeded in fooling me to believe that Madeleine was possessed by a spirit. One thing that surprised me is that he picked Judy out of a large crowd at Ernie’s. What a coincidence they were both there at the same time. When we saw the part where “Carlotta” jumped I thought that would have been the end of the movie but it just kept going on with more plot. What really shocked me was when it turned out Judy was acting as Gavin’s wife as a ploy. I did like the little twist in there with showing Judy’s perspective showing the real Madeleine being thrown off the roof. It really kept my attention through the rest of the movie because I really wanted to find out whether or not Scottie would discover what happened. I also liked how Scottie discovered she was acting as Madeleine and was trying to get her to tell him the entire story. I first thought he was going crazy but then I realized what he was trying to do when he first pulled up to the spanish style church. It was not all good there were some parts I did not like. One thing I did not like was that the movie was called Vertigo but I did not think the vertigo effect had much to do with the telling of the story except for when Gavin’s wife was thrown out of the church. I thought it would have had more use in the story by preventing him from doing ordinary things like climbing stairs or driving down hills causing lots of things getting in the way of saving Gavin’s wife. Also, the title does not really tell about the story. When I heard the name, I thought it would have been about something involving planes or helicopters. Another thing I did not like was what Gavin did. Killing his wife and hiring someone to act as her but possessed and throw his dead wife off a tower making people think it was suicide. It was pretty clever though but still didn’t sit right with me.
