The short story “The Veldt” is a very interesting, and entertaining short story to read in my opinion. First of all, Ray Bradbury (the author of the story) is a great author, and I love how descriptive he is with this story. OK, now with the story. “The Veldt” is a pretty good story when it comes to the content aspect. You start off the story with the main characters just having a normal conversation about the nursery that they have in their home for there children. Then they venture to the nursery only for the reader to find that this nursery, isn’t any old nursery. This nursery is a high tech room, where your thoughts come to reality. How cool is that! But, then the kids get involved in the story then things get complicated. The parents want to shut the house off for a little bit of time, just to have a little break from all the luxury in there home, but the children want no part of that. Regardless of what the children have to say the father shuts the house down. Then later on in the night, the parents hear something from the nursery. The children have turn it back on, and after the parents enter the nursery the children lock them in with a scenario you don’t want to be in. They are in a African veldt land surrounded by loins that look very hungry. End of story. But, I think there is a hidden message throughout the story in my opinion. I think what Bradbury is trying to say in this story is that someday technology could take over this world by just somehow killing us all. So, all an all “The Veldt” is a very interesting, and entertaining short story to read in my opinion.
